With Chinese New Year fast approaching, Tongzhou district, Nantong, has organized a set of cultural tourism activities to make the celebration. Here are the offerings.

Head to Zhongxiao Cultural Park on Feb 17 for a filial piety-themed opera feast. Several professional performers, dressed in traditional costumes, will stage classic excerpts from Chinese operas as they tour the venue. Visitors can enjoy watching shows and learning about operatic singing firsthand. They also have the opportunity to try on costumes and practice basic movements.

The 2026 Tongzhou Folk Culture Parade is scheduled for Feb 21. It will feature 15 formations, including classic recitations, banyao kite displays, blue calico showcases, and traditional Chinese wedding customs.

The 18th Tongzhou Lantern Riddle Fair will be held at the Tongzhou District Cultural Centre and Library on March 3, coinciding with this year's Lantern Festival. Visitors can enjoy spectacular lantern displays and solve lantern riddles using their wisdom.

Flower Town will host a Spring Festival garden party from Feb 17 to March 3, featuring traditional performances, stage shows, flower parades, ice-and-snow activities, and delicious food.

During the Spring Festival break, Zhouji Green Expo Garden will blend floral views, culinary experiences, and intangible cultural heritage activities, providing a wonderful retreat from the chilly winter.
