LNG vessel berthings at Yangkou Port's Sunshine Island exceed 900
The Bahamas-flagged liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Georgiy Ushakov berthed at the PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Terminal at Yangkou Port in Rudong, Jiangsu province, on Oct 9, bringing the total number of LNG vessel berthings at the port's Sunshine Island to over 900.
The local maritime authority provided support throughout the entire process, helping the port steadily improve its LNG receiving and unloading efficiency.
After its 800th berthing in September 2025, Yangkou Port reached the next 100-vessel milestone in just 394 days, 36 days faster than before. Since 2011, Sunshine Island has received about 75 million metric tons of LNG from 29 countries and regions and delivered over 100 billion cubic meters of natural gas, securing nearly 30 percent of Jiangsu's supply.

LNG is ultra-cold, flammable, explosive and prone to phase changes. With denser arrivals and routine multi-vessel operations, navigational and supply pressures are rising.
The local maritime authority employs comprehensive, closed-loop supervision, 24-hour monitoring, vessel-specific management measures, a green channel and coordinated emergency drills to ensure safe, efficient operations.
Moving forward, Yangkou Port will continue working to improve safety, navigational support and services, strengthen its role as a clean energy hub, safeguard the Yangtze River Delta's gas supply, and build itself into a national LNG energy hub.
