The offshore wind farms in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, generated over 4.25 billion kilowatt-hours of power in the first quarter of this year, according to the Maritime Safety Administration of Jiangsu Province.

The average daily power generation in the city exceeded 47 million kWh, which is sufficient to satisfy the electricity requirements of approximately 250,000 ordinary households for a duration of one month.

In recent years, the country has promoted clean energy development and optimized its energy structure, achieving significant results in the green and low-carbon energy transformation.

The development of the offshore wind farms in Nantong can be traced back to as early as 2009. The city has been home to 23 offshore wind farms, with 1,573 wind turbines and a total installed capacity of about 6.67 million kilowatts, covering approximately 1,200 square kilometers of sea area. The farthest wind farm is 45 nautical miles from the shore.

As a new type of renewable energy technology, offshore wind power technology converts wind power into electrical energy. The technology boasts advantages such as cleanliness, environmental friendliness, renewability, and zero carbon emissions.

The 4.25 billion kWh of clean electricity is estimated to save 1.34 million metric tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 3.52 million tons compared to traditional thermal power generation.
