The LNG tanker Aristarchos, which was carrying 160,000 cubic meters of liquified natural gas, docked at the PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Terminal at Yangkou Port in Rudong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province on Nov 22, local media reported.

The terminal has received 67 such LNG tankers that transported a combined 5.96 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas so far this year.

Since the third phase of the terminal extension project was put into operation last September, the terminal's annual LNG handling capacity has reached 10 million tons, making it the largest of its kind in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Yangkou port in recent years has introduced numerous LNG terminal projects.

In 2021, the first LNG terminal of the China Resources Gas Group Limited was introduced at Yangkou Port. The annual LNG handling capacity of the terminal is expected to reach 6.5 million tons.

The construction of the Jiangsu Guoxin LNG terminal project and the GCL Huidong LNG terminal project are currently underway. The terminals will start operation in 2023 and 2025 respectively.

Following the completion of the four LNG terminals, the annual LNG handling capacity of Yangkou Port will exceed 20 million tons, while the annual taxable turnover will be over 100 billion yuan ($13.94 billion).
