Nantong High-tech Zone plugs its industries in Shanghai
The Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone – located in the Tongzhou district of Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – recently went on an investment roadshow in Shanghai to drum up investment from European and US companies based there.
Over 80 representatives from local and international groups attended the investment conference.
Chen Bing, deputy head of Tongzhou district, delivered a keynote speech in which he stated that Nantong had a uniquely appealing location – being situated close to the Yangtze River, the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea, as well as near Shanghai. Last year the district reportedly entered the 1-trillion-yuan ($154.3 billion) GDP club in China.
As the only State-level high-tech zone in Nantong, it has already carried out extensive cooperation and exchanges with European and American companies in the fields of culture, the economy, education, science and technology and healthcare, Chen added.
As a result of its continued growth, upgrades and the optimizing of its business environment, the zone has seen a number of top international operations move there, including Sweden's Ikea and Irish autoparts group Aptiv. Chen said more overseas companies were welcomed to visit and locate in the zone.
Moving forwards, the Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone plans to boost its links with European and US groups in Shanghai through marketing roadshows.
