A training institute for rural rejuvenation was newly established in Pingyuanchi village in Rugao Economic and Technological Development Zone, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province on June 19, local media outlets reported.

The training institute is aimed at fostering a group of talents that can better support rural rejuvenation, said Zhu Yingying, a Party official of the Rugao Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, at the inauguration ceremony. She added that the institute will cooperate with agricultural associations and government departments to staff itself with professional teachers, as well as to design high-quality courses and activities.

The opening ceremony of the fifth Lotus Festival took place at the same time in the village. Pingyuanchi is a famous tourist destination for its expansive lotus pond and remarkable achievements in rural revitalization.

According to Liu Weijian, a Party official of the village, Pingyuanchi has built a complete industrial chain that includes tourism, as well as projects that process lotus leaves, roots, and seeds. The annual income per capita in the village reached 31,800 yuan ($4,911) in 2020 due to robust local industrial growth.
