Rugao customs helps Weg stabilize supply chain
Customs officials in Rugao, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province have been making efforts to address problems related to the clearance of imported or exported goods. They have also tried to shorten the time of clearance procedures to help local companies bolster their production and sales.
Weg (Jiangsu) Electric Equipment Co, which is located in Rugao Economic and Technological Development Zone, has seen a surge in orders since the beginning of this year, but had some problems with the supply of some component parts.
"Several parts of the products, such as bearing caps, are supplied by the headquarters in Brazil," said Ma Jinmei, director of the planning department at the company. "If we can't improve logistics efficiency, the company will definitely miss the opportunity to expand market."
After learning about this problem, staff members from Rugao customs came to Weg to help find a solution.
Partly due to the help of Rugao customs, Weg's sales at home and abroad in the first quarter of 2021 reached 106 million yuan ($16.51 million) and 48.5 million yuan, up 82 percent and 60 percent year-on-year respectively.
Rugao customs has also taken a series of measures to streamline its work procedures based on companies' production plans to ensure the stability of their supply chains.
