Rugao Economic and Technological Development Zone, which is located in Rugao, Nantong, will exert more efforts to promote scientific and technological innovation with the aim of achieving high-quality economic growth, local media outlets reported.

A conference was held in the development zone on March 15 to announce its next moves. The zone plans to bring in and initiate a group of major high-tech projects, as well as form an industrial cluster focusing on the development of high-tech sectors, according to Hao Xiaodong, a Party official of the zone.

The development zone will also encourage and support local enterprises to build their own research and development centers, Hao added.

In addition, more efforts will be made to attract talent and professionals, said Hao. The zone will work with local academic institutions to accumulate a talent pool of specialists. It also plans to establish a number of business incubators to cultivate small and medium-sized high-tech companies.

Representatives from leading companies in the zone, such as Sieyuan Electric, Wealth Machinery, Xeca Turbo, and Dachang Electronic, shared their development experiences and plans for 2021 at the conference.
