The Jiangnan University (Rugao) Food Biotechnology Research Institute was built by Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute, Jiangnan University, Rugao municipal government and Rugao Economic and Technological Development Zone.
The institute gives full play to the advantages of the School of Food Science and Technology of Jiangnan University, and follows the development direction of Rugao's longevity biological food industry innovation. It upholds the principle of "scientific research projects come from enterprises, and scientific and technological achievements go to enterprises".
The first phase of the institute covers 2,500 square meters, with assets of 60 million yuan ($8.63 million). It has established a platform laboratory and a pilot production line representing the highest levels in the field of domestic food biological fermentation, covering the key technologies of the upper, middle and lower reaches of food fermentation research and development (R&D).
The institute has attracted more than 10 outstanding R&D teams from Jiangnan University, Nanjing Agricultural University, Yangzhou University, Shanghai University for Science and Technology and Fuzhou University.
At present, the institute has more than 300 invention patents.
