Located in Chengbei sub-district in Rugao, the Tianyuan farm has received fresh vitality for further development through the use of smart agricultural machinery.
Xu Boyun, owner of the farm, has introduced a number of automatic devices, such as unmanned rice transplanters and harvesters to improve efficiency and reduce manpower.
A new type of unmanned tractor is normally able to finish sowing three 100-meter-long pieces of land within a single minute, explained Xu, who is the first farm owner in Rugao to buy such a tractor. “It also has GPS and can drive itself along the route that I set up for it on the phone.”
These smart machines not only do a better job at a faster pace, but also free farmers from everyday exhausting work, Xu added.
“While taking care of nearly 333.3 hectares of land, my husband and I can use the spare time to go out and have fun. But back in my parents' time, they were completely occupied with their 3,333 square meters of land .”
