Rugao Economic and Technological Development Zone in Rugao, Nantong will invest 200 million yuan ($30.97 million) in public education and medical facilities in the next three years to improve public wellbeing, said Hao Xiaodong, a Party official of the zone, at a recent meeting.

The zone will spend 120 million yuan in building a new kindergarten and elementary school in 2021, which are expected to enroll about 3,000 students. Several rewards will also be offered in an effort to attract more outstanding teachers.

The local government has invested a large amount of money in building and renovating public schools since 2010, adding three kindergartens, three primary schools, and one junior high school to this zone. However, demand still outpaces supply as the zone's population continues to grow at a rapid pace.

A new public general hospital is also scheduled to be set up within the next three years, spanning an area of 50 mu (about 3.33 hectares).
