The groundbreaking ceremony for a new electronics components plant took place on Sept 28 at the Rugao Economic and Technological Development Zone – in the county level city of Rugao, administered by Nantong city, in East China's Jiangsu province – according to local officials.
They said the plant, to be owned and operated by Jiangsu Zhipu Technology Co Ltd, will target annual output of 5 million smart terminal products and 36 million SMT (surface mounted technology) smart patches.
Zhipu Technology invested $150 million in the project, which officials said will boost Rugao's economic development.
The project took only 115 days from initial negotiations to the launch of the construction, continuing the high efficiency of the development zone, officials said.
