Rugao city discovers first natural hot spring
A special ceremony to celebrate the recent discovery of the first hot spring in the Rugao city area was held on Sept 2 in Pingyuanchi village -- in Chengbei sub-district, administered by Rugao in East China's Jiangsu province – local media reported.
The village has been focusing on developing its rural tourism for many years and in June, following an in-depth investigation, it started exploring and drilling for a hot spring.
In just two months, the discovery was made and according to experts, the water inflow from the well reaches 1,080 cubic meters per day and the water temperature at the wellhead is 42.6 C.
Experts said the geothermal water is rich in trace elements such as metasilicic acid, iodine, metaboric acid and bromine, which makes the water suitable for bathing and physiotherapy.
Officials said Pingyuanchi will make full use of the hot spring resources and introduce water leisure and treatment projects, to inject vitality into the village's tourism industry.
