The 3D renderings of the planned Rugao South Railway Station, which will combine modern design with local characteristics, were recently unveiled, local media reported on June 22.
The station, which will have a capacity of 700 people, will cover an area of 18,775 square meters and consist of a waiting hall, a ticket office, two platforms with four tracks, an overpass for departures and an underground passage for arrivals.
Construction of the railway started in March and is projected to be completed late this year. It will cost about 269 million yuan ($38.98 million) to build.
The railway station, which is part of the comprehensive transport hub along the Yancheng-Nantong High-speed Railway, is expected to begin operations by the end of this year.
Once the station is completed, Rugao residents will take less than two hours to travel to Shanghai, about four hours to Qingdao and Jinan in Shangdong province, and six hours to cities such as Beijing and Xi'an in Shaanxi province.
