Chongchuan district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has made strides in bolstering the development of the integrated circuit industry in recent years, local media reported.

The district has established three industrial clusters – the Shibei High-tech Park, Chongchuan Economic Development Zone, and Gangzha Economic Development Zone.

Nantong Access Semiconductor Co Ltd, located in the Shibei High-tech Park, has researched and developed an integrated circuit packaging substrate with independent intellectual property rights. It has helped the integrated circuit industry in China overcome major technological obstacles.

To date, the district's Shibei High-tech Park has introduced 16 enterprises involved in integrated circuit manufacturing.

In addition, an area spanning 6.77 squares kilometers in the zone plans to build an integrated circuit industrial park.

From 2021-2025, the zone will introduce at least 30 integrated circuit design companies and more than 10 enterprises involved in integrated circuit manufacturing.

The added value of the integrated circuit industry is expected to exceed 30 billion yuan ($4.14 billion), said Yuan Bo, director of the bureau of the integrated circuit industry of the Shibei High-tech Park.

Chongchuan currently is home to 35 above-designated-size integrated circuit enterprises.

Today, there are 32 enterprises involved in the integrated circuit industry located in the three industrial parks, accounting for 91 percent of the district's total.
