In 2019, the Nantong Gangzha Economic Development Zone in Jiangsu province achieved industrial taxable sales of 32.5 billion yuan ($4.6 billion), service taxable sales of 27.8 billion yuan, and general budgetary revenue of 1.3 billion yuan. Total foreign capital reached $50.2 million.
Investment promotion
Nantong Gangzha Economic Development Zone successfully attracted five major projects in 2019. Among them, Guosheng intelligent manufacturing equipment and CLM washing equipment have started construction, Zeyu intelligent electrical equipment has obtained a construction permit, Vestwoods Technology's project has passed the project review meeting and signed a contract, and Mitsubishi hydraulic parts will start construction in 2020.
Gangzha Economic Development Zone completed five land use projects with 100 million yuan in investment, and eight research and development (R&D) projects employing hundreds of people in 2019.
Carriers for investment have achieved good initial results, and the occupancy rate of Nantong Tian An Cyber Park rose to 95 percent from 50 percent at the beginning of 2019.
Project construction
In 2019, the Gangzha Economic Development Zone ranked third in evaluation of project construction in the whole district. In 2019, it completed two new major projects and invested 290 million yuan in new equipment to continue major projects. The completion rate of cumulative investment in continuing major projects was 63 percent. The completion rate of industrial projects was 85.7 percent, with 0.3 percent of equipment investment. The completion rate of newly started service projects was 81.8 percent, and the conversion rate was 30.2 percent.
Technology innovation
In 2019, R&D investment in Gangzha Economic Development Zone was reported to be 800 million yuan, with 10 new high-tech enterprises and 610 new patents granted, including 52 new invention patents, and agreements for a new provincial R&D center and 27 new industry-university-research projects.
