The list of the fifth group of national intangible cultural heritage items was announced by the State Council, also known as China's Cabinet, on June 10.

The techniques for making Wang Shi Bao Chi Wan (王氏保赤丸) – owned by Jinghua Pharmaceutical Group Co Ltd based in Nantong Gangzha Economic Development Zone – made the list. It marks another breakthrough in the traditional China medicine field of Nantong since the making techniques for Jidesheng snake pills was in the list of the third group of national intangible cultural heritage items in 2011.

Wang Shi Bao Chi Wan is a traditional Chinese medicine used mostly to treat digestive problems. In 1983, the medicine was granted the silver prize of China Quality Award. Later, its making techniques made the provincial intangible cultural heritage items list.

In the past over 60 years, Wang Shi Bao Chi Wan has not only cured countless patients in China, but also served as the country's main foreign aid medicine.

After hearing the good news, Yin Hongyu, chairman of Jinghua Pharmaceutical, said that Jinghua will invest more funds and manpower on the protection and inheritance of Wang Shi Bao Chi Wan, and accelerate the redevelopment of the product to benefit more people.
