CCEDZ calls for curbing food waste
The Chongchuan Economic Development Zone (CCEDZ) in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, is attaching great importance to curbing food waste and guiding residents to live in an economical and environmental way.
Volunteers of streets and communities of the zone recently posted tips on food saving, encouraged consumers to curb food waste through ordering moderately and taking away leftovers for free by using boxes supplied in restaurants.
"On behalf of the catering industry, I will encourage diners to clear their plates and curb food waste myself." said Si Jianhua, a representative of restaurant owners in the CCEDZ's Zhongxiu Street.
Over 20 restaurants in the CCEDZ participated in the promotion with volunteers distributing leaflets and giving out toothpick boxes printed with "no waste" and "rational consumption".
Staff and volunteers of the food safety office of Xingfu Street carried out a recent food-saving promotion activity in the Xingfu central market by giving out fans and brochures, and also advised residents to purchase food based on real time demand to avoid waste.
