Four box-type transformers were loaded on April 24 after completing debugging at the factory of Jiangsu Van Gogh Electric Co in Hai'an, a county-level city of Nantong.

This batch of equipment will arrive in Nyingchi, Xizang autonomous region, within a week. It will be installed on the hydropower project at the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River.

The project, a world-class mega project with an investment of 1.2 trillion yuan ($175.85 billion), will provide 300 billion kilowatt-hour of clean power annually, replacing 90 million metric tons of coal.

It is located on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau, where low air pressure, large temperature differences, and difficult geological conditions pose serious challenges to power equipment.

"From insulating materials to the production processes, we upgraded every step. We made sure the products are more energy-efficient and meet high standards for this major project," said Wang Xing, the company's technical director.

The company started making the equipment in March. Besides the box-type transformers shipped on April 24, six more will be delivered soon.

"Product delivery is just the start. Service is always our core strength," said He Xia, the company's general manager. After the equipment arrives in Nyingchi, the company will send staff to help with the installation and provide on-site technical guidance.

The long-distance transport — over 5,000 kilometers one-way from Hai'an to Nyingchi — is also a challenge.

"We prepared thoroughly before shipping, from loading the equipment to studying the terrain along the way. We mapped out the most efficient and safest route," said Lu Yihui from Jiangsu Linjie Logistics Co.
