As part of the first batch of National Environmental Protection Model Cities, Haimen has enhanced its ecological protection efforts in recent years, forming a beautiful picture of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

In the Haimen section of the Yangtze River, the river surface is clear and calm, with finless porpoises and gulls becoming regular visitors. The riverside landscape belt is shaded by lush trees, with reeds swaying in the wind, serving as a natural habitat for birds.

Ecological improvement has attracted numerous photographers. Photographer Zhu Xinhua has captured over 100 species of birds in Haimen over the years, with new faces such as pied avocets and spot-billed ducks continuing to pop up in his photos.

At present, 1,216 species have been recorded in Haimen, where riverside wetlands, urban parks, and other areas have formed a thriving ecosystem. It is now daily lives for residents to listen to birds singing in the morning, enjoy the riverside view in the evening, and watch migratory birds on weekends.
