Since 2022, Rugao has made significant strides in technological innovation by establishing five incubators in Shanghai, collaborating with prestigious institutions like Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University, Tongji University, and East China University of Science and Technology.

These facilities have successfully incubated 105 projects, including high-tech ventures like Leading Optics, Yin'guan Technology, and Wuyuan Aerospace. The projects were developed and incubated in Shanghai, with pilot testing and industrialization completed in Rugao.

Rugao's mayor, Wang Minghao, explained the strategy: "To secure future development advantages, we need to capture more technological and talent resources. Being closer to major cities and universities places us nearer to the sources and engines of technological innovation."

The cutting-edge technologies brought from these incubators not only foster new industries and business models but also attract high-caliber talent to Rugao.

Rugao offers a comprehensive business environment for these projects. Professor Wang Shengzhang from Fudan University, who leads a medical technology project, praised Rugao's supportive infrastructure. His project, initially incubated in Shanghai, ultimately established its base in Rugao.
