Night run along Haohe River draws hundreds of participants
Nearly 300 citizens and tourists participated in the fourth season of the Haohe River Night Run in Chongchuan district, Nantong, Jiangsu province, on July 20.
This night run along the Haohe River was also the first event of the 2024 Nantong summer cultural and tourism consumption promotion activity. Participants set off from the visitor center of the Haohe River Scenic Area, running a 5-kilometer route around the main urban area of Nantong and passing landmarks such as the Chenghuan Temple, Baisha Beach, and the Huanxi Cultural Square.
At the event venue, organizers provided participants with a variety of sports gear packs and set up two sports replenishment stations at Baisha Beach and the Huanxi Cultural Square, offering essential supplies to the runners.
Brazilian tourist Hashimoto Gustavo Hidetaka also signed up to participate in the night run. He commented, "This is my first time participating in such an event in Nantong, and it has shown me the enthusiasm and vitality of this city. I really like Nantong."
With a history of over 1,000 years, the Haohe River is one of the most well-preserved ancient moats in China, located in the heart of the city. In recent years, the complete circular Haohe River waterside walking trail has not only added an ecological corridor and healthy pathway to the urban space but also connected numerous high-quality cultural and scenic spots, allowing runners to appreciate Nantong's cultural heritage while engaging in physical activity.
