An opera called "Xiangzi and Huniu" performed by the China Pingju Opera Theatre graced the stage at the Hai'an Grand Theater in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province on Dec 12.

The opera is an adaptation of Lao She's novel, Rickshaw Boy, which is considered a masterpiece of 1930s Chinese literature. Its dramatic treatment of everyday details and vivid portrayal of characters as well as the vibrant way it depicts life in Beijing lends itself to adaptations in a variety of forms, including films, plays and operas.

Throughout this year, Hai'an Grand Theatre has treated audiences to a diverse array of performances. These cultural offerings have enriched the lives of the residents of Hai'an, providing a vibrant cultural experience for the local community.
