The 20th China International Agricultural Trade Fair, a large-scale agricultural industry event hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Shangdong Provincial People's Government, was held in Qingdao, Shandong province on Nov 9.

The fair has been held 19 times and has played an important role in publicizing policies related to agriculture, rural areas and farmers, displaying the achievements of agricultural and rural development, and promoting agricultural trade cooperation. It is the most authoritative and influential agricultural exhibition in China.

With an exhibition area of 120,000 square meters and 11 exhibition areas, it attracted nearly 3,000 enterprises from 18 countries and regions, including Sri Lanka, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Russia, the Philippines and Uganda, and featured more than 50,000 exhibits.

During the fair from Nov 9 to 12, Rugao agricultural products such as heitacai, a variety of Chinese cabbage in Rugao, black fish fillet, and ziyun rice were displayed at the Jiangsu agricultural brand quality product exhibition area.

Rugao boasts nine national geographical indication products or trademarks, including Rugao heitacai. Heitacai grows in a low-temperature environment without pests and diseases, and does not require pesticides during the growing process. It needs only a small amount of organic fertilizer.

Heitacai is popular for its high quality and rich nutritional value. Two years ago, it was served on the "Xuelong" scientific expedition ship.
