Rugao, a county-level city of Nantong in Jiangsu province, experienced a strong festive atmosphere and a booming market during the Mid-Autumn and National Day holiday.

The city's key commercial enterprises achieved sales of 62.42 million yuan ($8.55 million) during the eight-day holiday, up 12.1 percent year-on-year.

The main scenic spots received 195,600 visitors, up 35.74 percent year-on-year and 3.9 percent over 2019.

The city also launched a second round of car consumption promotion activities. The activities lasted throughout the holidays, issuing 2-million-yuan-worth of consumption coupons and achieving car sales of about 150 million yuan.

The city's restaurants, especially local specialty restaurants, also experienced booming business.

The movie market in the city was also lively, with a total box office of 3.64 million yuan. The films Under the Light, The Volunteers: To the War and Operation Moscow were the most popular among audiences.
