Chongchuan unveils second group of cultural relics
The list of the second group of immovable cultural relics in Chongchuan district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, was published on Dec 14, local media reported.
Ten cultural relics in Chongchuan made the list. They include the artificial hills in Central Park and the tomb of Zhang Cha, a famous Chinese entrepreneur.
The artificial hills in Central Park were established in 1917. On the back of the artificial hills is an inscription by Zhang Jian, a younger brother of Zhang Cha and also a famous entrepreneur.
An octagonal pavilion of the original Nantong Tongming Electric Company is also included in the list.
Nantong Tongming Electric Company was established by Zhang Jian in 1917 and was the first company to supply electricity to the city. It is the only architecture of the company still in existence and is a significant relic that highlights Nantong's history of modernization.
Chongchuan in recent years has been putting efforts to explore and protect cultural relics in the district.
To date, authorities have registered over 430 cultural relics, accounting for 60 percent of the city's total.
