The new materials industry in Rudong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has become a pillar industry after undergoing rapid development in recent years.

The county is currently home to 91 new materials companies, including 42 leading enterprises in this field.

This year, 18 of the 40 new industrial projects in Rudong are related to the new materials industry.

Four new materials projects worth 6.54 billion yuan ($940.13 million) were recently approved by provincial authorities. The total taxable turnover of these projects is expected to total 16.95 billion yuan.

To improve the efficiency of project construction, county authorities have simplified the approval process. Among the enterprises that benefited from the simplified approval process is Jiangsu Jiujiujiu Technology Co Ltd, which took less than one year to complete building its facility.

Authorities said they will continue to strengthen the introduction of projects and talents in the materials industry and advance the building of the industry cluster.
