Tongzhou district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province organized a volunteer team to help with courier deliveries on Nov 10, local media reported.

The volunteer team consists of more than 10 Party members from the Tongzhou bureau of transport.

The move is one of the measures to alleviate the pressure on delivery workers caused by the surge in orders due to the Double 11 (Nov 11) shopping festival.

To help improve delivery efficiency, district authorities have set up exclusive channels for express transport.

Authorities also provided couriers in the district with items to keep warm.

Thanks to these measures, the delivery time from ordering to receiving during this year's shopping festival in Tongzhou was 15 minutes faster than before.

Next, Tongzhou district will team up with local express delivery enterprises to promote resource sharing.
