Rudong rice harvest kicks off
The rice harvest in Rudong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, recently got underway.
This year, the total output of a 919,000 mu (61,266 hectares) rice field in the county is expected to reach 600,000 metric tons.
At farms in Hongqiao village, unmanned harvesters are used to improve efficiency. By utilizing such machines, the harvest of a 200 mu paddy field can be completed in about ten days.
Agricultural machinery currently plays an important role in Rudong's autumn harvest.
The county currently boasts nearly 20,000 agricultural machines, and the mechanized drying level of grain has reached nearly 90 percent, while the mechanized sowing capacity for wheat has reached 100 percent.
In addition, the county has set up an emergency brigade to ensure the scheduling the agricultural machinery.
