The Nantong Center for Disease Control and Prevention has advised the city's residents to avoid leaving Nantong, according to the latest notice on Jan 9.

The move is in response to the record number of new overseas COVID-19 cases and many locally transmitted cases reported in China in recent days.

With the exception of returning home for the Spring Festival and business trips, Nantong residents are advised to avoid leaving the city and are encouraged to celebrate the upcoming festival in the city.

People coming to Nantong are required to test negative for the virus within 48 hours before departure and closely monitor their own health for seven days after arriving in the city.

Should symptoms such as fever, dry cough, fatigue, sore throat, hyposmia, hypogeusia, and diarrhea occur, people should visit the nearest fever clinic as soon as possible and share their travel history with a doctor.

People from medium and high-risk areas, those who share a travel route with infected persons, and those with abnormal health QR codes are advised not to visit Nantong.

Those from cities with locally transmitted cases should report to the airport, railway station, or coach station when they leave and report to their residential communities or hotels and companies within 12 hours after arriving in Nantong.

Those with an abnormal health or travel code after arriving in Nantong will need to report to their residential communities or hotels and companies and will also need to be kept under quarantine and receive nucleic acid tests.
