The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology – a scientific research institute directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology – on Dec 16 released its 2021 list of China's top 100 industrial counties and county-level cities.
The prefecture-level city of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province had all its four county-level administrative regions included on the list, with Rudong county ranking 27th, the second highest among Nantong's regions.
This year, the county has taken the initiative to cope with the impact brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and is said to have done a sterling job in industry development, project construction and controlling energy consumption – helping to bring about a robust industry development.
In the first 11 months, the industrial output value of Rudong hit 149.6 billion yuan ($23.47 billion), up 20.24 percent over the same period last year. Work on 23 major industrial projects started in 2021, including four manufacturing projects and 13 other industrial projects.
Rudong is home to three national torch characteristic industrial bases – security products, offshore wind power and high polymer materials.
It has also developed nine competitive sectors: life health, semiconductors, new energy, new-type plant protection, safety protection, new chemical fiber materials, smart communications and power grid equipment, liquefied natural gas and food.
As a national model county for intellectual property development, Rudong has a national enterprise technology center, 38 provincial centers and 42 municipal centers.
It is continuing to make concerted efforts to cultivate its so-called little giant enterprises – outstanding high-tech small and medium-sized businesses with high growth potential, advanced technology and a strong competitive edge.
