Shan Yunyun, an 18-year-old girl from Rudong county in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, won the Excellence and Market Potential awards at the Chishangjin Cup China Hanfu Design Competition, which ended on Oct 29 in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province, for her work titled Thousands Tibetan Village.

The competition was held to encourage designers to explore the aesthetic connotations of traditional Chinese clothing, to design new hanfu (a kind of traditional Chinese clothing) suitable for new consumption concepts, and enhance the market value of the hanfu industry.

Shan is a fashion and apparel design major at the Rudong Secondary Vocational School of Jiangsu Province. Her work Thousands Tibetan Village is the only Jiangsu work to enter the finals.

Shan's work features plant patterns and uses dyeing techniques as she wanted to practice dyeing clothing and hoped that the ancient method of using plants would be well-received among the younger generations.
