Nantong celebrates fourth Farmers' Harvest Festival

The fourth China Nantong Farmers' Harvest Festival was held in Zhutao village, Rudong county, Nantong on Sept 22, one day before the fourth Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival.
Hundreds of farmers from across the city took part in the celebration to share the joy of their harvests.
A variety of folk performances featuring distinct farming culture in Nantong was staged, while an agricultural produce fair, a farmers' sports meeting, as well as other promotional activities were held to enhance the city's agriculture industry reputation.

The farmers' sports meeting comprised a wide range of daily agricultural activities, such as unshelling peanuts, cornhusking, topping-on, and fishing.
Zhou Yinfeng, a 64-year-old villager who won the peanut unshelling competition, said that her 1,333-square-meter farmland produced 600 kilograms of high-quality peaches.
"This year's harvest has been abundant," Zhou said.

At the agricultural produce fair, a dazzling assortment of agricultural and sideline products were on display and on sale.
Local radio hosts also helped farmers promote their products online, with a kind of locally-produced rice wine being sold out within an hour.
