Benjia Lane named traditional village in Jiangsu

Benjia Lane in Zhouzhuang community, Rugao, Nantong was recently named a traditional village under provincial protection by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

According to authorities, "traditional villages" are villages with many cultural and natural resources that have historical, cultural, scientific, artistic, economic, or social value.

Zhouzhuang community is located in the northeastern part of Jiang'an town, 30 kilometers away from the urban area of Rugao.

Benjia Lane, or Lane of the Ben Family, got its name for being home to many people surnamed Ben. It is also the birthplace of the 14th Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army.

In recent years, Zhouzhuang community has won a number of honorable titles, including the "most beautiful countryside in Jiangsu province" and "a village with a healthy environment in Jiangsu province".
