The departments of finance and agriculture and rural affairs in East China's Jiangsu province jointly released a list of provincial demonstration parks for modern agriculture on May 21.
A total of 17 parks were recognized, with the Yazhou Modern Agricultural Park in Hai'an – the county-level city administered by Nantong in Jiangsu – being the only one from Nantong.
In recent years, Yazhou town has focused efforts on developing four major industries. These are rice cultivation, silkworm breeding and mulberry growing – with mulberry leaves the source of food for silkworms – fruit and leisure tourism. The town has also developed a pattern of operations – involving businesses resident in the park, a big data center and specialized executives – to achieve data sharing between enterprises, markets and production.
On May 30, an agricultural projects promotions event was held in the park, with four big projects – engaging in flower farming and modern agricultural cultivation – signing up to settle there.
