A promotional meeting for green vegetable industry development in Jiangsu province was held in Rudong county, Nantong on Nov 19.

The representatives present at the meeting visited the commercialized seedling center of Nantong Zhongjiang Agriculture Development Co Ltd. Located in the national modern agricultural park in Caobu Township, the center is the largest intelligent seedling base in the province.

"The 30,000-square-meter smart greenhouse can cultivate 30 million seedlings at a time, all of which will be supplied on an order basis," Liu Zongcheng, general manager of Zhongjiang, said. "We also bred more than 20 high-quality new cabbage varieties, which can appear on the market all year round, enriching the citizens' vegetable basket."

After the seedling center, the representatives also visited a family farm in Qiangmin village, Dayu town, where a large field painting showing the three characters "Zhong Guo Meng", which means Chinese Dream, was on display from above; it was entirely made up of cabbages of different colors.

The representatives tasted the colorful leaves of the kale for both edible and ornamental uses, praising them as "sweet, crispy and delicious".

According to Chen Huiyu, head of Rudong county, in recent years, driven by scientific and technological innovation, green development, and industrial integration, the county has strongly promoted the development of the green vegetable industry through improved application of technology and equipment, strengthening of quality and traceability supervision, development of the entire industry chain, and provision of policy support.
