The hoisting of the Rudong H5# offshore booster station was completed in the northeast offshore sea of Rudong county in Jiangsu province on Sept 18.

The Jiangsu Rudong H5# offshore wind plant is invested by Jiangsu Communications Holding Co Ltd. The offshore booster station, consisting of three parts – upper blocking, jacket and steel pipe pile – has a weight of 3,915 tons and is the heaviest offshore wind plant platform with the longest distance from the shore, the longest single AC submarine cable (78 kilometers), and the largest offshore high-resistance capacity among domestic hoisted projects.

The H5# offshore wind plant has a planned total installed capacity of 300 megawatts and a planned 75 wind turbines with a single capacity of 4MW. Work on the booster station, the "heart" of the offshore wind plant, started in Longkou, Shandong province in December 2019.

The contractor, Sinopec Petroleum Engineering & Construction Shengli Corporation, strove to overcome the adverse impacts created by the COVID-19 pandemic and a shortage of required materials, focused on the project quality and completed the construction task in September.

At present, all indications are that the booster station is in good condition. The first set of wind turbine generators will be connected to the grid at the end of October.

As the first wind power project developed by Jiangsu Communications Holding, the Rudong H5# offshore wind plant was invested with 5.5 billion yuan ($810 million).

After full completion, the plant will promote the realization of Jiangsu Communications Holding's diversified development pattern of "transport + clean energy" and "laying equal emphasis on wind and optical energy development", as well as contribute to building Rudong into a vital city of green energy.
