The Hai'an Wanton cold chain port project laid its foundation on Nov 11. With investment valued at 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion) from Wuhan Wanton Cold Storage Logistics Co Ltd, the port is the first major, extra-large service project to be built in Hai'an, a county-level city administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province.
In recent years, the domestic cold chain logistics industry has become a promising area to invest in.
As a professional park with the most complete functional layout and the most significant industry influence in Hai'an, the trade logistics industrial park has focused on cold chain logistics, and spared no efforts on the three main parts – a cross-border bonded cold chain, a strategic reserve cold chain and one for live materials.
A string of key projects invested in by renowned domestic logistics enterprises such as Cainiao have settled in the park, providing strong support for the booming development of Hai'an's cold chain industry.
As a leader in the logistics industry, Wanton Group boasts the richest cold storage logistics resources and the largest cold chain supply service network in China.
Relying on the Hai'an Bonded Logistics Center and the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong freight express, the Wanton cold chain port is to be built as a high-quality intelligent storage base.
After completion, it will achieve an annual transaction volume of 20 billion yuan and provide more than 20,000 jobs.
