A delegation led by Dong Mingzhu, chairman of Gree Electric Appliances Inc. of Zhuhai, or GREE, visited Haimen district, Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province on Oct 27. Xu Huimin and Chen Yong, Party secretaries of Nantong and Haimen district, met the delegation and had discussions on deepening cooperation between the two sides.

Founded in 1991, GREE was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in November 1996. Its products mainly cover household consumer goods and industrial equipment, and are sold to more than 160 countries and regions.

In 2019, GREE achieved operation revenue of 200.5 billion yuan ($29.9 billion) and made a contribution of 15.79 billion yuan in tax. Currently, the company strives to seize the development opportunities created by the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) integration and conduct a new round of strategic layout in the region.

Xu welcomed the delegation and said that by focusing on integrating into the southern Jiangsu area and Shanghai, Nantong is accelerating its development as a pivotal city in the core triangle of Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong in the YRD region.

GREE is a well-known enterprise in China and a frontrunner of national industry. Xu said hopes that GREE can carry out in-depth cooperation with Nantong in intelligent manufacturing and cold-chain logistics.

According to Chen, Haimen district has complete industrial systems and has formed three industries with output value worth hundreds of billions of yuan – modern construction, modern home textiles and advanced equipment. It is concentrating on cultivating three hundred-billion-yuan-level industrial clusters in steel, luxury cruise ships and biomedicine, and has broad cooperation space in industrial equipment and intelligent manufacturing.

Dong expressed her gratitude for the support Haimen has given to GREE, and spoke highly of the history and culture, industrial layout, urban development and business environment.

Dong said that, with its distinct location, industrial strength and social vitality, Haimen is an ideal place to invest in. GREE will accelerate the implementation of existing projects and organize a special team to seek cooperation in industrial equipment and core parts, to achieve mutual benefits, Dong added.
