Haimen district in Nantong has witnessed an average of more than 60 new industrial projects signed since the local government launched a three-year action plan in 2017 to attract investment from Shanghai.

Presently, about 70 percent of capital and projects from outside the district have come from Shanghai, according to officials.

Among these projects is the second phase of the wind turbine blade plant of Shanghai Aeolon Wind Energy Technology Development Co.

According to a spokesperson of the company, the plant generated 1.68 billion yuan ($243.43 million) in taxable sales revenue over the first nine months of this year.

The plant will be one of the largest wind turbine blade production centers in the world when it reaches full production capacity after its construction is complete.

In 2019, 51 key projects with a combined investment of 21.64 billion yuan were signed between Haimen and Shanghai.

According to Yu Jun, director of the district's reform and development commission, Haimen has signed cooperation agreements with Huangpu, Baoshan and Minhang districts, as well as several towns and industrial parks in Shanghai.

The district's economic and technological development zone has also worked with Fudan University to build a high-tech industrial park, which has attracted 10 companies.

Seventeen project deals worth nearly 30 billion yuan were also signed at a promotional investment conference held by Haimen in Shanghai on Aug 31.
