Yisheng Cultural Park, a key part of the Zhang Jian Cultural Tourist Site in Nantong's Haimen district, experienced the first tourism peak season of this year during the eight-day National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 8.

In the first six days of the holiday, the park received more than 3,000 tourist visits and generated more than 200,000 yuan ($28,980) in tourism revenue.

According to Shen Zhenzhen, operations manager of the park, the livestream and online sales of tourism products that were launched on Oct 2 attracted nearly 80,000 viewers.

Statistics show that local scenic spots received more than 40,000 tourist visits from Oct 1 to 6, while rural tourism resorts received over 50,000 visits, up 20 to 30 percent compared to the same period last year.

The recovery of the tourism sector was a result of the efforts that the local government has made to mitigate the impact of the pandemic.

For instance, measures have been taken to reduce the rents of tourism companies and provide them with financial support to weather the crisis. Various promotional events were also held in neighboring cities to attract tourists.
