Haimen district in Nantong signed deals for 15 projects worth more than 15 billion yuan ($2.17 billion) at an investment promotion conference in Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province, on Sept 25.
More than 300 government officials and business leaders attended the event, during which Guo Xiaomin, director of the district, briefed attendees on Haimen's business opportunities.
Guo said that Haimen boasts a convenient transportation network, huge potential for emerging industries to cluster together, great opportunities for traditional industries to transform, and ample room for modern service industries to grow.
She also stated that the local government has been working to upgrade services, optimize policies and improve the business environment for investors.
Guangzhou, following Shanghai, was the second stop in the district's investment promotion campaign, which was launched after the former county-level city of Haimen was abolished and Haimen district was established on Aug 8.
The campaign was meant to boost Haimen's high-quality development and help it realize the goal of becoming one of China's top 20 districts.
