Haimen's regional GDP up 3.5% in H1

The regional gross domestic product (GDP) of Haimen district in Nantong reached 69.92 billion yuan ($10.13 billion) in the first half of 2020, increasing 3.5 percent year on year, according a report recently released by the district's development and reform commission.

Officials have said that since the beginning of this year, the district has taken strict measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and promote economic growth, aiming to minimize the impact of the pandemic.

Statistics show that the district had a public budget revenue of 3.81 billion yuan in the first six months of this year, while its fixed asset investment increased 8 percent year on year. Retail sales of consumer goods dropped 8.8 percent year on year to 19.57 billion yuan.

Imports and exports grew 16.9 percent to 9.34 billion yuan, while the actual paid-in foreign capital was $176 million. 

Taxable industrial sales rose 17.9 percent to 66.31 billion yuan, while the per capita disposable income of urban and rural resident rose 2.6 percent and 4 percent, respectively, to 26,881 yuan and 14,148 yuan.
