Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Nantong company China Mobile, one of the country's three major telecoms operators, at the city's cloud technology conference on Sept 29.
According to the agreement, the two sides will share resources to achieve win-win cooperation in infrastructure construction, innovative 5G services, smart city construction, intelligent industry development, and application of information technology, aiming to inject new momentum into the development of the city's digital economy.
The conference was broadcast on And Live, a live-streaming platform produced by China Mobile, allowing many businesspeople who could not attend the meeting in person to learn about 5G development in Rugao.
A number of applications, such as 5G+intelligent police services, 5G+VR and a 5G facial recognition system were also available for people to try out through the platform.
Next, China Mobile plans to explore a 5G industrial internet of things (IoT) in light of Rugao's industrial characteristics, promoting the large-scale application of artificial intelligence, IoT, cloud computing, big data and edge computing in Rugao.
