A cultural activity focusing on old streets was hosted in Chongchuan district, Nantong on June 2, inviting several artists who hold provincial and municipal titles as well as anyone who is interested in paintings and calligraphy works.

A number of paintings and calligraphy works created by the artists were displayed at the event, attracting many local residents.

Over the past few years, the district has been promoting the development of culture on its old streets, creating cultural brands and enhancing the city's reputation through preservation of its historical and cultural resources.

The event has been held seven times since 2017, with 10 periodicals on old street protection published and five oral history videos filmed.

Moving forward, more activities involving photography and folk museums are expected to be launched in an effort to explore and preserve the culture of old streets, as well as help young people better understand the life of older generations.
