A new season for boosting the development of the nighttime economy in Chongchuan district – administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – began on April 16 as several night markets reopened simultaneously.
"This night market provides a feast for both the eyes and the mouth," said Zhang Jie, a local who has had Helan Street night market on the brain since last year.
Zhang noted that this year, the market has been upgraded, pointing out that "Each month has a different theme, singing and dancing performances as well as a wider range of food and goods."
The third Nandajie Carnival serial activities kicked off in Dinggujiao on April 16. The colorful lights brightened the night in the old-brand commercial area.
"Each time I visit here I find something new since the renovated Dinggujiao Pedestrian Street reopened last September," said a local named Zhang Jun who was visiting the night market with his family.
In addition to the Helan Street night market, there are also the Dinggujiao and Xiyang Bridge night markets which will last until the end of this year. Special items such as traveling to the forest safari park at night will be pushed out later. These distinctive markets will provide joyful night travel experiences that will cover dining, drinking, recreation and shopping, according to an official from the district's commerce bureau.
