A new bus terminal will start operating in Rudong county, Nantong in October, after nearly two years of construction.
The interior and 90 percent of the exterior have already been completed, and workers are now carrying out construction on supporting facilities, as well as the power and water supply.
The bus terminal will cover an area of 107 mu (7.13 hectares) and cost 340 million yuan ($47.51 million) in total. It is being built according to national-level standards for bus terminals.
There will be 12 ticketing windows and five self-service ticketing machines in the 500-square-meter booking hall, and the station will have 25 points of departure. Daily passenger throughput is expected to reach 10,000.
Zhu Huayu, general manager at the Rudong branch of Nantong Automobile Transportation Group Co, said that the new bus terminal will relieve pressure on the existing terminal and allow for more convenient transfers between intercity buses, urban-rural buses, and taxis.
In addition, a maintenance area and 15 charging piles will be set up, as the number of buses in the county is expected to reach 300 to 400 in the near future, all of which will make use of new energy.
In addition, six of the nine floors in the station's main building will be used for commercial development.
