A livestream was given at Yurun Farm in Tongzhou district, Nantong, on May 11 in an effort to promote local agricultural products.

A plan for the livestreaming event was issued in April, and many agricultural enterprises and farm operators decided to participate. Wang Zhuqing, owner of Yurun Farm, was the first to give a livestream.

Wang set up the farm seven years ago and initially grew grapes. In 2017, he purchased more land and built a complex integrating sightseeing, fruit-picking and fishing, attracting many visitors every year.

"We hope consumers can learn about our planting processes and products in a more direct manner through livestreaming," said Wang. The one-hour livestream attracted over 3,000 viewers, with many placing orders online.

The district plans to gather more local agricultural enterprises and farm operators to the livestreaming activity through supporting policies and rewards. The e-commerce platform is expected to help accelerate agricultural transformation and create a batch of distinctive brands, according to Xi Jian, an official of the district's bureau of agriculture and rural affairs.

In addition, the district organizes remote training sessions in agricultural technology and offers guidance online. Zhang Hongjun, head of the local plant protection station, gave a livestream to guide farmers on how to prevent plant diseases and pests, winning praise from local farmers.
