Xu Huimin, secretary of the Nantong municipal Party committee, investigated Tongzhou district, Nantong on May 13, stressing project construction and urban development.

The district plans to build a new area in its southeast corner to provide high-quality functional services related to residence, health care and business.

Xu said that the new area will play a significant role in promoting local development, improving urban quality and boosting industrial clusters. The district should also seize development opportunities brought about by the new Nantong airport and surrounding economic zone.

To date, all industrial and service enterprises above designated size, those with an annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.82 million), have resumed production in the district.

Xu inspected the subsidiary funded by Shanghai Unitech Electronics Co, the first phase of which has started trial production. He encouraged the company to boost technological innovation and set up automatic and intelligent factories to enhance its competitiveness.

The Neovoltaic Nantong Co cultivated in Nantong High-tech Zone is a national leader in household energy storage systems. Xu visited the workshops and research centers of the company and expressed hope that it can expand its energy storage market and develop more innovative products.

Xu said that the district should further boost the development of Nantong High-tech Zone, which contributes over 30 percent of the district's total economic output, and urged it to focus on major industries such as information technology, automobiles and intelligent equipment, and deepen cooperation with industrial parks in southern Jiangsu province.
