The transportation containers for China's new large carrier rocket Long March 5B, which completed its first flight on May 5, were produced by Nantong CIMC Special Transportation Equipment Manufacture Co based in Gangzha district, Nantong.

China Aerospace Science and Technology Co decided to cooperate with the Gangzha-based company after a thorough investigation and assessment of the company's research and development capacity, production capacity, quality assurance, product testing and transport security.

Among the various types of containers, the largest is 36.2 meters long, 6.4 m wide and 6.6 m tall, 40 times the size of the twenty-foot container equivalent unit.

The container is equipped with high-standard insulation layers and slide ways which allow convenient transportation of the rocket components.

In addition, it needs only one person to open the gate, which weighs an entire metric ton. To realize this, Nantong CIMC Special Transportation Equipment Manufacture Co gathered all of its skilled engineers and ran countless tests.

The container has provided a new and convenient mode of transportation for China's heavy rockets.
